Among the Gently Mad: Strategies and Perspectives for the Book-Hunter in the 21st Century Review

A wonderful Read more about the world of books from one of the outstanding writers on the theme of the book collecting.Using the word 'object' to describe the passion of the books used to describe as the "subject", or others who love passion.Blame to me if you want, not Nicholas.
It seems that I did not get enough of these books about books and this is one of best. Here a wonderful insight into the life of the author in the world of High End Collectors. Those like me, data, and this meansall but a very small number that can only dream to visit and participate in these auctions, in which individual rare books to sell tens of thousands, and many or even complete personal library of sale for amounts equal to treasure doesn countries. That small 't to say, is not that sort of thing very interesting to read, and the author has the ability to feel that they are a part of that activity. What get this book is that everyone has the same desires, the same joy and havethe rest of what comes with a mission to read correspondence, collection, possession, distribution, organizing their personal collection, if it is a small number of favorites, or some ammassment huge amount – is their Collecion and what have the capacity, desire and resources to take their call own.I which may be as many books booksellers and librarians work even imagine the books about them are their own.I remember once read somewhere part the effect that nodoes have a book, but only the privilege of their guards for a while 'until it finally passes the "owner" is sure to make – it's just a matter of time. This idea comes very clearly as the author shows , collectors spend as lives in search of books that eventually end up in the university library and other collections.
The author describes the characters he encountered, and we can all identify with them as we pursue our passion lbs.
In a nutshellIt is from this book that the only real difference between the collection and the world he writes about is a matter of scale to obtain
A great read and highly recommended for those who love books and reading.

A most enjoyable book about books – Chris – Australia
This is a great book for anyone collecting books, or who may be interested in books, or just someone interested in what makes collectors book. Different people have very different approaches and strategies for collecting and Basbanes book documents a number of them. The eccentric folly of all is what makes it fun and I found that this down quickly to a difficult book to put down. After reading this I assume that will never look at the books in the same way. Basic Informationcollection of books are no different from other forms of coverage, so people who are self-confessed "collectors" (you know who you are!) are likely to find this an interesting read. In all a fun book yarn pretty good starter guide is to collect, and this book contains practical suggestions to start a series of Web sites and bookshops, the novice. Overall it was really fun to read page turner and a very.
Couldn’t put it down – BuzS – ny, ny
collect dream, elegant prose, the author of the reader in his passion for books and people, love hugs, such as flying hours, while I was in rotation with Basbanes, assuaged my guilt for abandoning mundane tasks Right-click on the lines that the first chapter of the book concludes: "… a feeling that I must confess that I enjoy on a daily basis: Books are not life, but what then?"
Wonderful reading, as always – Michael K. Smith – Gonzales, Louisiana
Reading Basbanes is like entering a long, relaxing conversation over a cup of coffee in the room with a friend very qualified. In this third volume of his walks with ease, but always fascinating and well-informed discussions about books, book collectors, booksellers and dealers, and all the peripheral problems that generate it connects to the bibliophile advice age of the Internet with reminiscence, such as collection used to do, and what the old and new, have in common yet. AsSmall-time collectors of limited resources myself, I like reading, join the fabulous collection of them built, the issue is not only money but also appreciate the passion and intelligence, who hunt and capture, adding to the growth of knowledge to add. In fact, as shown Basbanes always personally involved in books and other "things" is what separates collectors simple accumulators. In fact, I think I also became a collector of Nick Basbanes. . . .
